Topic:
Rising Beyond Overwhelm: Executive Functioning Through Trauma
Trauma doesn't just live in memory — it changes how the brain functions day to day. For protective parents navigating high-conflict custody cases, chronic stress and coercive control can quietly erode executive functioning: the mental skills we rely on for planning, organizing, memory, regulating emotions, and following through on tasks. When these capacities are affected, it can be misread — by courts, by co-parents, even by parents themselves — as instability.
In this free Lunch & Learn, we'll dig into what executive functioning actually is, how trauma and chronic stress reshape it, and why this matters for anyone managing co-parenting logistics, legal deadlines, and daily life under sustained pressure. We'll talk about what this looks like day to day, why willpower alone isn't the answer, and what actually helps.

Protective parents will leave with language and validation for what they may already be experiencing. Clinicians will leave with a clearer framework for recognizing executive functioning challenges without pathologizing them.
